Who we are

A private group with a
long-term view of the land

Hampshire Woodland Conservation is a small private group of individuals committed to identifying, acquiring and stewarding rural woodland and amenity land across Hampshire and Wiltshire. We operate quietly, without fanfare, and with no interest in development of any kind.

We are not a charity, a developer, or a commercial operation. We are private buyers who believe that certain parcels of countryside — particularly those with Tree Preservation Orders, conservation designations, and established natural character — deserve long-term stewardship rather than short-term exploitation.

Our acquisitions are funded privately. We do not require mortgage finance and are able to move at a pace that suits the seller.

The land we look for

Tree Preservation Orders

We actively seek land subject to area or individual Tree Preservation Orders. Protected woodland of this nature aligns precisely with our conservation objectives.

Rural Amenity Land

Fields, clearings and mixed countryside parcels outside settlement boundaries. Sites of between 0.5 and 10 hectares are of particular interest to us.

Countryside Designations

Land within or adjacent to Special Protection Areas, Sites of Special Scientific Interest, or other conservation designations. The constraints others see as problems, we see as purpose.

Established Access

Land with an existing track, private road or right of way providing practical access. We are not deterred by shared arrangements or informal routes.

Mature Vegetation

Sites with mature trees, established hedgerows or natural screening. The older and more established the natural features, the greater our interest.

Hampshire & Wiltshire

Our focus is the rural areas of Hampshire and Wiltshire — particularly the Test Valley, New Forest fringe, and surrounding countryside.

How we work

I

Discreet initial contact

We approach landowners privately and without pressure. There is never any obligation to proceed and we respect that selling land is a considered decision.

II

Cash purchase, no chain

We are funded privately and do not require mortgage finance. We can move at whatever pace suits the seller and are not dependent on any other transaction completing.

III

Fair and straightforward terms

We make clear offers without unnecessary conditions. We will appoint solicitors promptly and aim to exchange within a reasonable timeframe from agreement.

IV

Long-term conservation stewardship

Once acquired, land is managed sympathetically and in keeping with its natural character. We do not apply for planning permission and have no commercial objectives.

What we will never do with the land we acquire

Our commitment to conservation is the foundation of every acquisition we make. We are not speculators, developers or commercial operators.
